Home Theater

The double Simpson French fir doors are surrounded by a glass transom and sidelights to bring natural light right to the staircase. The comfortable media room has a Harmon Kardon HKTS-18 7.1 speaker system; a high performance receiver (70 Watts/channel); a fir framed projection screen; and both component video (NTSC) and HDMI (HDTV) wiring for a projector. The Godfrey Hirst carpet feels soft underfoot and still conducts the radiant heat while improving the home acoustics. A maple cabinet holds the electronics for the network, video, and whole house audio systems.

Wine Cellar

A wine cellar has custom vertical grain Douglas Fir racks for 550 bottles of wine. This room is well-insulated and has a weatherstripped door to keep it thermally separate from the rest of the house. The two concrete walls stay close to ground temperature (low 60s) with a huge thermal mass, so the temperature will not vary as much over the seasons.

This large, well proportioned room has abundant natural and overhead lighting, plus double French doors leading to an outside patio and path to the back of the property.
